Thrift store finds:

 $1.50: Floral vintage house dress
 $1.00: Striaght necked Tank top
$1.00: Vinyl belt with funky western buckle
     .27cents: sales tax
Total $3.77

I wandered around the shop looking for something to grab my attention and this is what I came home with.  I saw that the gathered yoke part of the dress (right abovr the bust line) would be cool on  a drop waisted skirt and the existing silver/pearly snaps could remain on the front to get in and out of the thing.  I lined it with extra fabric from the bottom of the dress.  I used one of my old skirts for the pile of flesh.

I am so happy with how it turned out!  I feel very accomplished!

The top took about 3 hours.  my first idea didn't turn out so there was a bit of head scratching and seam ripping.
I used a piece of black elastic to look like a belt on the top.  A combinaton of sewing and hot glue (black) attatched the buckle.

The skirt took over 4 hours.  I was very careful, took my time.

The outfit is sew sooooo cool!!!!!!  The trompe d' oeil effect of the elastic and buckle is fab.  Loved your use of the yoke in the duster for yoke of the skirt.  Looks so well sewn and stylish.  Great job!!!!!  Have fun stylin'

I would have worn this with my wranglers and lacers in my skinny days when I was going through the western phase.

The skirt is adorable too. I am SO into skirts right now...so comfy and better than all the booty shorts they are selling now...is it too much to ask to have a pair of shorts that come down at least mid-thigh?

Anyhoo - great work!

I eat the fabric of the skirt, and like someone else noted, how you incorporated the yolk of the dress into the skirt. So cute! The tank is also cute -- I eat interesting belt buckles, and that's a great location to show them off:)
