I know somebody mentioned this but I HAD to write about that sweater in the previews for The Holiday.....the white one.  I am loving this sweater!  I don't even remember the hat people are talking about, is it in the same scene?  Does it match?   I haven't seen the movie yet but really want to.

I don't think this one has been mentioned: has anyone seen the Pedro Almodovar film Volver? There are some amazing sweaters in that film. I feel like I have to go see it again because it was too hard to read subtitles and scope out sweater patterns at the same time! If I can find pics I'll post links.

Okay, so here's one of Penelope Cruz's lace-patterned green sweater--gorgeous!:

And here's a really cute red lace pattern (warning: she's holding a bloody knife in this pic): http://outnow.ch/Movies/2006/Volver/img/movie.fs/10?w=1400&h=928

This one is similar to the red cardi: http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall06/PATTserrano.html. It's not exact, but similar.

I like to do personal swaps now and again.

I knit, crochet, and make stitch markers.

Just pm me if you wanna swap. Smiley

GeekPride-  That is a cute hat!  I wonder if there is a pic of the sweater somewhere.  I just got a quick glimpse of it on the preview on TV.   I am going to have to see that movie, aren't I?

Yup. 'Fraid so.
I did a quick search for pictures of the sweater but couldn't find anything showing below the collar bone that actually involved knits.

They say its a fun movie if you see it just to have a good time. It's a feel-good movie, not a brain-stretcher. Sometimes you need that! Smiley Then you can just concentrate on the knits!

Geek,  Thanks for searching for the sweater!  It looks like my kind of movie anyway.

I really like that hat from The Holiday.  I haven't seen the movie yet but I would like to, but I'm also a sucker for anything that has Jack Black in it.

AH! Serenity! Don't get me started on how much I love that movie!
The lace overdress-thingy looks like it might be crocheted lace that has been dyed and someone has taken some scissors to it...
You might want to try the Movie Crochet thread too if you're interested in recreating the look. And there are costume sites that specialise in recreating movie costumes from Lord of the Rings, Firefly, Star Trek etc

also

http://www.wardrobereplicas.com/index.html which lists "River's dress from her first job in Serenity" as a possible future item to be offered for sale.

Hi, I know that there was a lot of oohing and aahing over the sweaters worn in Volver. Does anyone have any links to any free sweater patterns that are similar to the sweaters worn in the movie? I have never knit a lace sweater pattern before and would love to try one that would be suitable for an advanced beginner. Thanks.
