I've been wondering how Melidomi's Big Fish sweater is coming along... any updates for us?

I second that question!

Sadly, the answer is, 'very slowly'.  I've done some swatching, that's about it.
I have 30 balls of Adriafil Charme, I'm using the second pattern from this page as a guide (for shaping, etc)
Here's the back of the sweater:

Here's my swatch (I don't like bobbles) for the back (this is the Charme yarn).  I've got two versions of the little squiggles, (with different length repeats).

Here's a swatch of just the big cable (this is Patons Upcountry wool):

This whole project has kinda taken the back burner, though, because I'm frantically doing Christmas present knitting.

Wow. What a project! It's going to be gorgeous. I'll be keeping one eye open for updates when you have time to get back to it.

The Bourne Identity and the Bourne Supremacy have some gorgeous knits.  Both films take place in Europe in winter so lots of scarves and sweaters.

I watched the Bourne Identity for the first time a couple of months ago and was so distracted by the beautiful knits.  Like Matt Damon's green ribbed sweater.  He was beating people up and all I could think about was how nice that sweater was and how great it looked on him.

melidomi, I had wanted to make the exact same sweater!!

I think instead though i'm going to settle for the similar sweater that was in Vogue Knitting about a year ago.  Sometimes a girl just needs a break, ya know?

So, this isn't a movie, but did any of you see the mother-in-law knitting that godawful red and yellow thing on Desperate Housewives last night?

Holy cow, did I just admit in writing and in public that I watch that show? Shh, don't tell!  Grin

OMG IndiaRomeo!  I love that show and I couldn't stoplaughing during that scene.  I think Mama was giving a mincemeat pie speech of her own.  I hate to mix my tv shows but I think the blood spray stuff from CSI might prove that Mama Solis has given more than one person a fatal poke with those needles!

IndiaRomeo, I saw that, too. It was my first episode of Desperate Housewives... I've heard so much about it I thought I'd give it a try. I liked how menacing and sinister those metal clacking needles were when the mother-in-law was explaining how she would do anything to take care of her son. But what the heck was that ugly red and yellow thing, anyway?

Desperate Housewives is a great show. And it is only a matter of time before they show Bree working on something incredibly complicated, and I will relate to her even more.
