Homage to Jun Takahashi: hoodie and jeans

ooo  I love those pants.  I remember when I was younger I always wanted patchwork pants after seeing an episode of 'my so called life' where rae-ann had a pair.  And she was cool.  So I started making some, by hand, i think i sewd together like 5 squares befor forgetting about it.  It was a very short lived fantasy.

I love them so much tho, they are the perfect colors and shapes and patterns!  Its like subtle yet loud at the same time. rule!

Your man Jun was a new designer to me, so looked up his work and enjoyed a visit to his winter 2005 collection.  Thanks for expanding my horizions.

I'm with GloriousHats and craftykate.  As a devout fan of anything Japanese, I was shocked that I hadn't heard of him.  But as soon as I saw those pants, I immediately looked him up, and I think I'm in love!

Oh and by the way...

YOU F***ING ROCK!  I mean, you get top points for creative use of materials alone, not to mention the fact that you made something that you look AWESOME in.  Phat!

I definitely was trying to stay as far from hippieness as I could with the pants, erring towards the punk side as much as possible.  A narrow color palette is what does it, I thiink.  They are a bit "louder" in person because of all the long threads I left hanging (on purpose) shaking around.

It's nice to hear you guys say I look okay in this stuff.  I wasn't sure when I saw the pictures.  I may wear these pants out yet.  We'll see.

WEAR THEM OUT!  If you feel self-conscious, I would wear a black tee or some other simple top first.  And a scary face so people are like "oh my god, he's so confident in those pants...i'm probably too narrow-minded to appreciate them but i'll try."
