**Update: I finished!

The back...

CORNER. Hahaha. Mitering is rather difficult...

I spend a vast amount of time trolling through the quilt section on Craftster here and never fail to be completely in awe of what some of you guys can make. It is truly astounding to me. I had never made a quilt before, and I decided there was no better time than the present to try!

I had originally intended to just make a t-shirt quilt & a use-up-all-my-scraps quilt, seperately, but ultimately decided to do both together! So, using the herringbone block tutorial I found here http://www.bijoulovelydesigns.com/2011/03/herringbone-block-tutorial.html, I hacked into a bunch of old t-shirts and soccer jerseys and scraps and came out with this!

This one shows the true colors a bit better...

Its only the top so far, I haven't finished my bias tape yet. I really liked how it came out; I don't like matchy-matchy and I am obsessed with random and colorful things! A close up...

I used several old band t-shirts, vacation shirts, and old soccer jerseys. Quilting is SO much fun! I will definitely hope to do more in the future!

Fantastic!  Have only ever seen t-shirt quilts where the shirts are just squares of fabric -- love, love, love your idea here!  Did you use anything to stabilize the shirt pieces?  If not, what did you do to joint them with the woven fabrics so perfectly?

Thank you guys! I used a lightweight fusible interfacing for the t-shirt pieces...they stretched around too much without it...haha I learned that the hard way!

What a unique way to use your old t-shirts and scraps. And it's beautiful! I just featured this project on Craftster's Facebook page. Thanks for sharing.  Smiley

Lovely colorful quilt! I love the pattern you chose for this project. You don't usually see a t shirt quilt made like this & it's wonderful!
