I love hand carved stamps so much. I've tried to make my own a couple of times but failed miserably. This time, I tried something REALLY simple and I'm finally happy with the result.

As you can see, it really is REALLY simple but at least it's recognizable as the thing I intended it to be, which is much more than I can say for my previous attempts Smiley.

I stamped some little cards and tags that I plan to use for swap packages.

And here's the actual stamp...

I'm excited to try another easy design. If any of you professional carvers out there have tips, or see things I did crazy wrong, let me know!!

It looks great! I know when I first started it was wayyy too easy to slice up a design because your carving tool can move too quick through the lino. Definitely go slow and take your time. Great job!

That's a wonderful stamp! You'll get lots of use out of it. If you use different colored inks, it could also be a lemon, or an orange.  Smiley

Thanks for all the nice comments! I do have an orange ink pad so I could stamp a citrus salad Smiley.

Yes! I definitely took my time with this. I hacked up previous attempts in a matter of seconds because the blade really does move so quickly and easily through the rubber stuff.

For me it's all about the tools I use, I have a set of these that I've heavily modified for my purposes but out of the box they should be very helpful.

Harbor Freight carries the cheapest set I've found you can take a look here.

This is a great tip! Thank you for sharing that link. That set looks awesome and I love Harbor Freight!!

That block is good but I prefer the SpeedyCarve. Its the only pink kind as far as I know. It's a little more rubbery so its still super easy to carve but takes slightly more more effort to carve through because the rubber is so resistant which means less mistakes. Still go slow! Also I've gotten the white kind of lino from speedball that has just crumbled at the slightest touch - I'm not sure if it was old or what but I'm a bit wary of the white/grayish kinds.

Thanks Lime, And SheepBlue! I will try it out.  I'd love to have a stamp with my info on it.  Or just my little logo that I've had in my head for years and years.

Lime, I love it!  I, too, would be stamping everything in sight with such a cool name-inspired stamp!!

I'm excited to try another easy design.

How about a little acorn with a letter "J" worked into the design??  Grin

Why would you change your design? I love the simplicity of it! Anyone who ever saw a project of yours, will recognize your signature, isn't that what you want?!

So cute! I have done some stamp carving when I was a student, it takes a lot of patience to get it right.

I think it rocks LimeRiot!!  Cheesy

It is! I would definitely suggest starting with something simple like a heart or a round button or a flower - that kind of thing. I attempted to start by carving a squirrel and that ended up being an epic fail Smiley.

Thanks for all the nice comments!
