I ran into this "problem" with a recent swap and was wondering what the best solution was.

Let's say you want to send your partner 4 small bookmarks in a swap that's based on points. If you count them as four individual smalls, that's already 4 points. But if you count all four of them together as one medium that's 2 points. So what's the best way to count them for the swap, so you don't send your partner too much or too little? I tend to err on the side of caution and count them as a medium but a lot of organizers seem to adding "no extras" policies to their swaps, and I don't want it to seem like I'm sending too much.

Thoughts?

I'd ask my partner how they'd count 4 bookmarks - 4 smalls or 1 medium or whatever. If you want to keep it a secret, you can also ask about other items too Smiley

I would say to ask your organiser what she/he thinks.  Are they paper bookmarks, knitted, etc?  I think that if they are super simple, they would be counted as a tiny item.  Whereas, if they are complicated and take quite a bit of time, they could be a small.

Have you looked at the size/time/money guidelines for swap items?  They aren't the end-all, but a good guide. Smiley

Thanks for the advice. Smiley SevsOnlyGirl, the ones in question were crocheted but they didn't take me too long to do, definitely less than two hours for all of them. But the cost of buying the thread would have made them a medium. Tongue

I think next time I'm just going to remember to ask my partner and organizer. It's just frustrating when something can be either small or medium, all depending on how it's being judged.

I understand how that could be frustrating for you. Smiley  It's always best to ask the organiser straight away so that there's no confusion. Smiley
