This Ponyo dress for the cosplay this year was a surprise project that had to be made in just 2 days.

I sew every decade or so...had to watch YOUTUBE to refresh my sewing techniques (such a relief!)...turned out better than we hoped, and looks sooo much cuter on! The costume has bloomers, and the time was so tight that she actually packed it just as soon as I cut the last few threads, and left for the convention.  :-)

Alls well that ends well!

Wow this is adorable!! I can't believe you made it in just two days! Especially after not having sewn in so long. I love ponyo your friend must have been so happy to have such a great dress! I would love to see some action shots!

Also, did you use a pattern? Make your own?

Thank you very much jillrbassett! :-)
It is for my daughter, I forgot to mention that part, :-)
We actually found a great pattern from Mc Calls Costumes #M4948, and made a few minor changes.  I hadn't read a pattern in so long that it was hard to understand, so I really just concentrated on making sure all the seams lined up in the right places. I watched several videos on "how to install a zipper without a zipper foot" on youtube, as always - found a zipper foot for my kenmore dinosaur, ( a christmas gift in 1979), yesterday on amazon..after it was all said and done..that was funny! (ordered it!!)

I will post some pictures, she's doing Ponyo on the third day.

I just love it when things turn out, :-)

Haha Oh i love how that always happens. After all the struggles and effort and sweat, you find the thing you needed to make it easier. That always happens! Well it looks great even without the use of the zipper foot! I hate zippers I am so bad at them. I have an invisible zipper foot where it's specifically made so you basically can't really screw it up because it has a groove for the zipper. And yet somehow I still manage to mess up my zippers. haha So congrats on being able to do it without a zipper foot of any kind!
