distressed damsel
« on: April 07, 2012 01:52:08 PM »

Im begging to embark on a knitting journey summertime is close and I have found the perfect skirt, http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/hypotenuse but the beginning notes are causing my brain to flat line, maybe its easier than it seems but i want to do it in all one color instead of two but I still want the pattern change but when it starts talking bout twisting the yarn I know i should over look it but I keep getting turned around. Im a fairly new knitter, ive only made scarves, and simple shrugs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Huh

The beginning notes do sound complicated, but after looking over the pattern, they make a bit more sense. You're working two shapes at once - one in one color at one gauge, and knitting it to another shape in another color at another gauge. Because of the gauge difference, you occasionally skip lines in the larger shape. I think if you want the pattern change (where it changes color) without actually changing color, the easiest way would be to use two skeins. Then you wouldn't have to worry about skipping anything.

That sounds like a good plan, I tried to just go along with instructions with one skein, and I got all turned around. Thanks for taking the time to help a noob.
