I don't have any completed skeins but here's what's on my bobbin (with an American dime for reference):

"jungle rose"
100% merino wool

And some fiber I just dyed:

What should I name this?
100% fine merino wool, 21μ

No thread yet? I'll start us off. 

This one is called Early Seedlings, and it is made from  a 75% silk, 25% cotton sweater. I shredded the sweater, then dyed it.



 And this one, for lack of a better name, is called "When Two Ugly Sweater Vests Love Each Other Very Much, They Get Together and Make a Yarn!"  Both the vests are acrylic and cotton blends. I like the denim-y colors, and I was curious about what I would get spinning with them. Acrylic sweaters that have already been through the consumer stream go to the landfill and stay there forever. Might as well see if they can become fun novelty yarns.


I probably won't be able to spin much in the coming weeks. We are moving. Hubby has the job! I will be here as much as I can to cheer you on. Happy Easter and happy spinning!

Pretty! I like them both!  The second one is totally not my normal color likes...but for some reason I really like it.

For some reason I cannot spin that thin. Maybe I'm paranoid, but you make it look so good! Very nice colors.
What did you dye with? Those are some fun colors, though I can't help with the name.

Lark, you posted this 4 minutes after Shannin posted a thread. Funny!

As always, your re-purposed sweaters are inspiring. The flowers you hung them on make them even more appealing. They just seem so natural! Funny that they're part acrylic, eh?

I spun up 8 oz of Sheep Shed white roving (which they won't be carrying as much of anymore, did you hear?!) thick and thin and plied it with some black thread and dyed it red... and then I packaged it up to go the Battle ALS with Flowers auction in San Antonio without taking pictures. Didn't even get it to the PO today!

But I did spin another skein but no pics yet so maybe I'll post next week.

I meant for the roving to be red, orange, yellow, and brown but the brown came out a bit purplish. :/ I used Jacquard acid dyes using the oven painting method.

You should try spinning thin! I was scared at first but it's really fun now, although it takes a looong time to finish, haha. I'm going to navajo ply it.

This is the same color scheme as my living room.  I call my room Tuscan Sunset. LOL

i like to spin thin-ish, it makes the fun last longer. i love the color scheme of that roving. i'll have to look up oven painting, i've never heard  of it before.

You basically steam it in the oven using a roasting pan rather than painting it on plastic wrap and setting it in a steamer... I don't like the idea of using up so much plastic wrap!
