many, many years ago, when i was in a certain phase, i bought this lovely yet wildly unpractical dress. in all those years i've worn it exactly once. as a costume.

for some reason i was still very attached to it when i came across it again last week. but i knew i'd never wear it again, so i transformed it into something i would Smiley

it took so long to decide what to do with this! in the end it was a very simple alteration that made a very big difference. not a lot more was needed with that bustline & fabric. i do love that fabric, it's such nice (& impossible to capture) deep-red velour. i also love this dress a lot more as babydoll. i can wear this on a daily basis! & cycle in it! it's a lot lighter now too, which makes it extra comfy.

thanks for looking! have a fabulous day/night!

I love it, it'd work as an everyday dress now. And I bet you had plently of that lovely velvet left as offcuts as well.

Ooh, it looks like a completely different dress (haha, but that's the point.) I really like the lace going down the front. It goes very well with the velvet.

I have a very love/hate response to velvet... and I LOVE your recon! the style really suits the rich texture of the dress.  Cheesy

I really liked the original, but you are right, it wasn't practical for everyday wear.  Huge chiffon sleeves are lovely, but really, what can you do while wearing them?

I like what you did with it, it's still pretty, but much more wearable.  I like that you kept some black details on it, the contrast looks very nice.

Ooh, great refashion.  I love how it has the spirit of the original without looking like a costume.  I would wear that any day!
