"Little Bird Book" mini book

Another "better late than never," for me! In the recent Make My Collectible Round 1, I had the opportunity to craft something for 85%confusion. She said she liked to collect vintage books & birds, so I sort of combined the two & made my own little bird book for her.

I used images from the classic illustrated "A Guide to Identification Birds of North America," & collected an assortment of quotes about birds to use in pairs. I ended up with 11 pairs of pages. I wanted to use the wing shape & the cutting out of all of those wings (cardboard & scrapbook paper) was very time consuming, if I start to do these a lot, I'm considering a Cricut. lol I also embellished the pages with sharpies to give them a little more character & the ribbon was a final touch.

So, here is my first mini book & what can probably be called my first real papercraft project.

I now have a much deeper respect for papercrafters, this project was intense & I learned so much (like thinking ahead to word-hole punch placement, d'oh! .

I've seen a bunch of these mini books but never one made in a wing shape like this!! Such great idea. It's perfect for spring!

I hadn't seen that shape in my research, either. I figured since I'm doing it all by hand anyways, not constrained by templates for tools or anything, I may as well go big or go home. lol
