I bought this clock at a yard sale for $5 and I knew it I could give it a new life.

I took it apart, replaced and painted the hands, painted the entire clock pink and repainted the numbers and bird.  I also swapped out the ugly chains with a string of white beads to hold the acorns.  I love it!

Oh goodness, I LOVE IT! I would have never thought to paint one! I picked one up from freecycle but it was broken so I took it apart for the gears and stuffs! Part of me now wishes I just painted it some awesome colour and stuck it on the wall anyway!

wow!  iam more shocked that you found one for $5!  i've been searching for a cuckoo to paint for years, but a working one sells for anywhere from $50-$250!  you found a real bargain!

Really??  I thought it was a great price but I didn't think too much of it because it's just plastic.  It's not one that the bird comes out and sings.  The bird moves with the pendulum and it plays a song every hour.  My mom had one when I was a kid but it was wooden and you had to pull the long acorn chains (for some reason I never knew) and the bird came out of a little door every hour.  Ahh, nostalgia!
