Hi everyone,
my sister wanted to throw a pair of adorable ballet flats away because they were old.

I saved them from the bin and gave them a second life.

First, I cut off all the frays that were coming out of the seams. Then I covered the parts of the shoes that I didnt want to get sprayed on with masking tape. In my case, that was only the hem of the shoes, since it is made from fabric and I figured it would look weird if Id spray that.

Last, you need to stuff your shoes with some newspaper. There we go, all ready!

I sprayed my shoes golden. Of course you can make them any color you want. You can even make patterns whatever you can think of!

I sprayed two layers and I would recommend to add at least one layer of clear varnish on top to keep the color from coming off too soon. Let each layer dry thoroughly, over night is best.

Enjoy your new shoes, add decorations to your hearts content! Maybe you want to get out your gluegun and stick something sparkly on them, or a bow or flower! You could also add decorations with nail polish (look below for more tips and ideas!)

I just added two green ribbons for them to go with my St. Patricks day outfit.

Happy Crafting!

Great save!  Did you use just regular ol' spray paint?

Cute! I think this should go in the "Shoes: completed projects" section though.
