...maybe you shouldn't join a swap.  Just saying.

I've just had a lot of problems with some recent swaps I've organized.  People won't post in the thread once a week like I ask, they won't PM their partner to answer swap related questions, they will only visit the forum 2-3 times during the entire swap, and they won't give notice if they need to send late.

I'm sorry, but if you're really that busy, don't join a swap.  You'll save your organizer and your partner a lot of frustration.  And if you have to back out of a swap because life gets crazy, let your organizer and partner know ASAP.

I never ever join swaps when I know I will be swamped. I love to give my swaps all my time. I understand where your coming from.

If they're that bad at communicating and following the rules, be sure to mention it in their feedback. And then remember to be careful about letting people in with poor communication feedback next time. I totally hear ya, that's my big pet peeve about organizing too!

Yes, paying attention to feedback is helpful.  A lot of the time the swappers have really good feedback, but kind of slack off in my swap.  LOL, I guess I have that effect on people.

I don't imagine you'd enjoy swapping all that much if you're that busy.  I would think it would be stressful to try and craft something by a deadline on top of everything else you're doing.

I'm still in my first swap, but I can only say amen! I got very sick shortly after committing to swap, I was full out for two weeks, then got a thrombosis in my leg (complications of illnesses are so much fun ... NOT!) for which I'm now in hospital about 3 times a week for checkups, and then there's nurses visits and in between I need to keep up with my job and the house keeping, because I still need food and clean clothes. I've committed to do the right thing, and I'm sending out today, but if I'd known what kind of trouble was coming, I'd have waited for a calmer time for sure!

I felt so guilty about all the delay I caused in the swap process, but I've tried to always keep communicating and keep organisers and swap partner up to date. Can't imagine people consciously choosing to swap when they're superbusy and then not even keep in touch if they get delayed.

if the rules in the swap say partners must check in, communicate with each other etc. then I would expect they follow those rules. Things do happen, though, so maybe alittle leeway? Like if it says chexk in once a week, and they check in on Tues and then again the next Wed, yes, it has been 8 days, but it still seems like once a week.

Naantja- that is awful I hope you get well soon!

I'm not so strict that I expect a swapper to post every Tuesday or whatnot. As long as they post once a week, some time during the current week.

I just organized a swap for the first time, and I have to say I have NO interest in ever doing it again. I've participated in swaps on this site for 6 years, and I'll be the first to admit I haven't always been the perfect swapper...however, I've always communicated and been honest with my organizers and partners. In the past few months, I've been lied to, ignored, and just flat out disrespected by some swappers/organizers on craftster. How disappointing!

In the last swap I organized, only a handful of swappers actually followed the rules I set forth (post in the swap once a week, pm when sending/receiving..etc. Nothing out of the ordinary). I can note this in their feedback, but really, what good does that do? As long as they have positive status, I'm fairly certain they won't be denied entry into most other swaps.

Again, I'm not saying I'm perfect here. I'm as busy as the next person, and over six years I will admit I have let the ball drop from time to time. But sending weeks late with little to no communication? Sending rushed packages when you've had weeks or MONTHS to do it? I don't understand that...just don't swap!!

I have to say that as an organizer, you pretty much just expect one or two flakers in every swap and a couple people to send crazy late. It's annoying, but it's going to happen, so I pretty much have just learned to expect it and when I have a flake-free swap I'm delighted Cheesy
