Van Gough! Didn't even think of it - but now, that you guys, mentioned it - I can se it Cheesy (love his work!)

And thanks so much, everyone, for the kind words!
I really hardly ever paint and never in more realistic style - I paint for fun. So my husband's request was a challenge for sure. But I like artsy challenges.

It wen't through many transformations:

Me, too! I saw it in the dry grass and rolling hills.

I love your sky. There's a lot of movement and depth, which is hard to convey in translucency.

I also like how it's more alive in the background, but desolate in the fore. I think you nailed it. Is The Man happy?

Thank you! And yes! The man is happy-ish - while everything was supposed to feel hopeless and drab and somber, he was supposed to embody that delusional (or was it?) lasting hope. Yet his poor horse was supposed to be impossibly scrawny and barely standing.
This whole painting is so out of what I like to paint (and I very rarely paint at all, hoping to change that).

Glad you guys like it! Thank you! Smiley

Thanks for sharing your many transformations, having many neverending paintings myself I love seeing the process to a finished work!  Can I ask how long did it take to complete your painting?

Same for me - I love seeing progress shots and before and afters!
I just looked it up - started 03/07/16 and finished 03/05/17 - oh wow! A full year! I hadn't even thought about it!
