Hello and Happy Friday!!!

I had fun with my yarn this week.  I've wanted to spin a feathered yarn for ages, but spinning actual feathers just wasn't working well for me and the quills are scratchy.  Then I got an idea -- shredded silk kinda looks like feathers, right?  So I shredded up some silk chiffon scarves I had laying around the house and threaded them onto some green commercial yarn I had left over from a baby gift.  Then I plied it with some white commercial yarn, also left over from a baby gift.  I'm actually really happy with how it turned out.  "The Green Fairy" - 98 yards

Wow, Nik! very creative. That would make a fun shawl or bag.

Haven't spun myself in a while but I am dyeing some fiber today (Koolaid!) so I can spin some Ladybug inspired something soon for a fundraiser. Will post next week.

Thank you!  I think I'll try a drop-stitch scarf or shawl.  I still have more of it I can spin;  that's just what my bobbin would hold.  (Gotta get a jumbo flyer kit!!)

That is totally cool!

No spinning this week.  Finishing up some shawls and socks.  Did have a wonderful fiber day today with friends.  We dyed about 2 lb of roving, spent a couple hours on the drum carder and spun up some of the carded roving while my friend tried out my Sonata.  I didn't get a picture of the yarn though.  Base color of bubble gum pink with greens, blues, reds, yellows & oranges lightly carded in.

Cyndi -- your fiber day sounds wonderful!  Oh I wish I had a drum carder!  Looking forward to seeing your finished objects.

Can't wait to see your yarns, Jexx and Bella.

I hope someone else posts a yarn this week;  one yarn does not a Fiber Friday make.  :-)

And this is what I spun for 1 of my final project yarns! I'm proud of this one, so it will definitely be used!  616 yards....  Very fine, but not super fine.

I don't mind the 10 yard samples, it's the writing that's driving me bonkers!   I've learned sooooo much in 1 year, I can't wait for level 2!

Shannin, I am in love with that thick and thin.

Bella -- gorgeous yarns.  What is the fiber of your final project yarn?  It is really beautiful.  What will you make with it?

I believe its a shetland, though I can't be 100% sure, it's definitely a long wool.  I've got a bunch of BFL to spin too, and it will become this

Nikschaf, that is the coolest yarn ever. I am inspired. I want to try that!

Shannin and Bella, I love your yarns!

I haven't had much time to spin, and we traveled to Illinois again to house hunt. We have a place lined up, and hubby probably has a job offer (still waiting on formal offer). Not all the ducks are in a row yet but we are getting there. If it all works out, I'll have a room that can be used as a studio.  Cool

Hubby has the formal offer now! We are on our way. It will be weird living in a city after 20 years in various parts of the Ozarks, but there are yarn shops (at least one that sells spinning supplies!!!) and a spinning and weaving guild I can join. Yay! Grin Now, to get packing in earnest.

Thank you, LaughingLark!  I hope you find some chiffon-y goodness to shred up and spin.  I keep imagining reviving a sad old bridesmaid's dress  or something and turning it into something cool.  Glad you've found a place -- that must be a relief.  Hope you have a smooth and easy move.

Yay!  It's so fun to revisit this thread!

I haven't even touched my poor wheel in months.  I think I'm going to have to dust it off and start making yarn again.
