A fellow crafter and friend Lindyv321 had asked for something off her pinterest board for her birthday and she had this design "pinned".  I did with a running stitch and tye-died embroidery thread on muslin.

Love! I'll be pinning this version as well.

I really love the look of the tie dyed thread, gives it great color without having to constantly switch threads.

Did you use different color schemed floss for the different sections?

ivoryh-  Yes I did. the eye areas were one floss, the teeth and forehead are another, and the sides of the skull and nose are another.  I am almost positive the embroidery floss was in one of those multi packs from Michaels...

Thanks, I'll have to remember to pick up one of those packs next time I'm there. I love the effect it gives, not something I would have thought of doing.
