I was at a fundraising book-sale recently. There were some pretty bags for sale. They had pretty prints, weren't enormous, and weren't badly priced until you handled th'm Tongue Then you decided they were overpriced. (The cheapest hotel you've ever stayed in didn't have sheets that cheap feeling.)

So, I decided to make my own.

I used Kwik-Sew #3526. Cotton outers, unbleached cotton lining.

in this pic, it's only half done.

This is the pocket inside out of a scrap of th' band/handle material.

Here it is, nearly done.

And the bow!

I'm seriously pleased with it. I had a couple qualms about it being "too Old-lady like", but, decided it is just a pretty bag.

What do you think, Craftsters & guests? Feedback of any sort (positive or negative) would be appreciated. Thanks.

Nice bag!  I think the bow is a great touch, too.

Aww, thank you, Kaz814. I appreciate th't. I have gotten a couple compliments on th' bag. (Although, my Fabric Lady had suggested the fabric for the bow, she's not particularly fond of it.)

As I'd mentioned, I had a couple qualms about it being "too Old-lady like"  I've gotten over th'm. It is both pretty and functional. (& you cannot carry a 10-year child in it a many if th' reusable bags they sell in the grocery stores you prob'ly could, they're so large. Roll Eyes)

Thank you.

Th' bow is what uses a lot of fabric. It's cut on the bias. But it turns out great looking.

*UPDATE*

I really do like this bag. But, I took the bow off.
It's a nice bag, but the bow threw it into the "over-the-top" category. It made the whole thing just too busy.
Without the bow, it is much richer looking.

This bag looks darling.  I like the colorful birds on the fabric.  It is such a great feeling to make something that is perfect for your needs.  Are you saving the bow for another project?

Thank you, JS.
Yes; now, I have to go back to th' fabric store and find another fabric to make ANOTHER bag. *fake groan*   Cheesy

Very pretty.  i'm glad you took the bow off.  IMHO it's better without it.
