So, I'm totally obsessed with dinosaurs! And I love having plants in the house but I am the kiss o death to most plants. I've discovered that cacti and succulents can handle my not so green thumb the best so that's what I stick with.

Anywho, I saw this amazingness on pinterest and new I had to do it!http://www.moredesignplease.com/moredesignplease/2011/3/25/plaid-pigeon-toy-planters.html

So, behold!

I totally love it and it was so easy! All I did was get a $1 dino at Michael's, cut a hole in it, paint it Martha Stewart's granny smith green and added a bitchin succulent. Woot! I think I need a whole gang of dino plants now.
***UPDATE***
My sister's birthday was in April and I thought she needed a planter too! So, tada!!!

This is so fun! There are many dinosaurs missing limbs here at the preschool - now I know what to do with them!

Great job.

I like yours better than the one on the site you linked because it looks more like a part of the dinosaur. I'ma pin this one instead of those ones, if you don't mind. Wink

OMG, that's so cool! I like your dino better than the ones in the link, because the shape of the leaves matches its spine.

I love succulents too, for the same reason as you Cheesy

Luckily succulents don't really need much water. In theory I would like to water him maybe once a month. Just pour a little water into the body. The plant will absorb what it needs and the rest will evaporate. But to be totally honest (and this is probably why all of my plants besides succulents die) I have watered it once since I made it. Oops! But for regular non succulent plants I would say follow the plant requirements and if it requires drainage, just drill a couple small holes in the bottom. Hope that helped!  Wink

That is so great! The dinosaurs at the Michael's in my area cost more than $1 though Sad maybe I can find something cheaper elsewhere. This is the perfect way for me to show off the jade plant cuttings that I've got going. Thanks for the idea Smiley
