You dont have to make puppets you can make anything based on the work of Jim Henson. I dont know what kind of metalwork you do but you could make a little sculptor out of found objects, like nuts and bolts, or if you do woodburning you can do a characture or a scene that way.

Oohhh... for carpentry- make a shelf with a "back" shaped like Kermit- or any other character.  Obviously, I am not carpentry oriented...

Woodburning, in any form.  My kid  I would go apes for a step stool with pretty much any character on it. 

Metal working- depends on what you do, but I can see a wall hanging done in kind of an industrial/steampunk Jareth (yes I know David Bowie isn't exactly Henson, but, Labyrinth is )

Even though this thread started on a bad note, I am THRILLED to join in!  The Muppet Show makes me laugh all the time.  One time, as I was watching it in high school, I was laughing so much, my mom asked me if I was high.  I wasn't, but I was giggling that uncontrollably!

And yay for metal work and carpentry! That would certainly suggest a whole lot of different takes on the Henson theme...I would love one of the little Labyrinth bombs made from real metal!
