I madethese adorable decopauge ornaments for my bff this past Christmas. Normally I don't like to give people Christmas themed presents, it kind of seems like a cop out to me. However, in November I saw a picture of decopauged ornaments like these and I instantly wanted to make them for her. I know that she loves things made from old book pages so these just made sense. I headed to the thrift store looking for an old book that I could tear up. The only suitable one I found happened to be an old Algebra book from one of the high schools around here. It seemed pretty appropriate since her boyfriend has a Math degree. I figure next year they can put these on their tree! I jazzed them up with some glitter glue and ribbons too. She loved them a ton which is always the best response to a gift!

Thanks for looking!

What a cute idea! I hate giving xmas themed presents too but whenever I do I always give that person their present at thanksgiving instead of xmas so they can enjoy it in the proper context without having to wait a year

I bought a couple packs of plain ball ornaments on clearance this year with no real plans on what I was going to do with them figuring I had 11 months to figure something out, but I'm thinking this might definately be an option for a few of them. Although I might just cheat and xerox some pages and age them with tea, that way I can make sure the pages are from a book I like.

Did you just cut up the pages and use modge podge and decopage like normal?

OMG I love that idea of giving any Christmas themed gifts on Thanksgiving!!

And yes, I just tore up the pages and decoupaged like normal.  Once they were all dry, then I added a thin layer of silver glitter paint.
