So now that my partner Teamama's received her package from our Grimm Swap, I can start posting projects!  I designed this drawing of Little Red venturing into the woods, before she ventures off the path.

After I drew out the image and started cutting, I realized that there were a lot of areas of floating negative space that I would have to iron down independently... I considered changing the design, but I liked it too much, so I just did it anyway.  It worked out!  Still, I won't be doing that again.

The stencil was done with freezer paper.  Because the bag has about ten folds in all the sides and corners, it was difficult to get a really good seal in there, so the lines aren't quite as crisp as I wanted.  But I'm still happy with how it came out.

If you look really closely, you can see the wolf's eyes and nose hidden in the bushes at the end of the path.

My partner's kids have co-opted the bag as a library book bag, which I think is just adorable, and a perfect use for the bag.

Amazing! A lot of careful cutting and ironing sure went into that. I like the lines how they are: It gives it a nice woodsy look to me. Really nice image design too!

It's a wonderful bag - and I think the few places where you might not have gotten the seal you wanted with the freezer paper work out just fine - gives it a bit more of an organic feel around the edges. Love it.

And you know - I didn't notice the wolf's eyes and nose until JUST NOW when you pointed it out... I had to sneak into the kids' room to look at it again!

Thanks so much sirael! It's a wonderful bag, and you are a great swap partner!

Tea.

Wonderful!  This is art on a tote!  The design is fantastic just the way it is.  I can see that wolf - rather sinister, lying in wait.  So thrilling.  You did a great job on this - you should be proud for sure!   Smiley  I admire your stenciling skills.

Thank you, guys!  That's really kind!  Cheesy

Tea - Haha, sorry, I should have pointed that out in the note!  It's fitting, though; I wanted the wolf to be subtle enough to cruise under the radar.

I couldnt even think about doing a project like this--the patience was NEVER there!
Is that ONE piece of stencil? And do you use like glue stick to keep it down there?

A real wonderful piece of work!
