Hey folks, I've decoupaged a few pairs of shoes now, but they've all been that fake or cheap leathery/vinyly material. However, a fellow I know asked if I could do a pair of canvas shoes for him with comics.

So my question for you is, can I? How well does it work on canvas? Or does anyone have any tips for working with canvas shoes? Also, slightly related, should I be sanding down the leathery/vinyly flats and heels I've been working on; I hear people say it helps the glue stick more.

I think canvas would probably work better than a shiny surface.  Are you using fabric glue?  That stretches a bit, and hold up to water.  Will you use comics printed on newsprint?  That paper doesn't hold up well, and you'll have to be extra careful with it.

And yes, I would sand shiny surfaces.

You could always scan and print onto printable canvas or silk. It can be found in a lot of crafting stores. You could change the sizing to what you need, as well. It would make things a bit thicker though.
