My boyfriend's parents recently moved and came across some old plain birdhouses that they gave me to decorate for them Smiley

Because of all the leaves this actually took me a while to make.

Started out as a plain white wooden birdhouse Smiley

I used white polymer clay to make the leaves (I wasn't at home in this picture and the only surface I could find to use was this street sign. actually worked pretty well though!)

Found some leaf patterns online

I don't have many clay tools, so I just used a toothpick to "cut them out" then later added the leaf veins with a toothpick as well.

For the base color of the roof i mixed together a variety of yellow and gold tones (acrylic)

It's difficult to see in this picture (my camera isn't anything too fancy) but I used a textured sponge to dab on a light tint of an orange paint mixture.

Then, with the same sponge I added some dark green. To get a different texture, I dragged the sponge instead of dabbing it to get a little more of a "scratched" and worn look.

For the walls, I used a mixture of brown paint and bronze metalic paint.

Using the same technique to make the green "scratches" on the roof, I added gold to the walls.

Making and painting the leaves took the longest. It may not look like it, but each side has 23 leaves. I glued them on using a basic white craft glue.

I love working with hemp and try to add some in most things I make. I made a little daisy chain and glued it to the side of the roof using basic craft glue. Then, I added some to the corners and holes. On the bottom i used craft glue to glue on some acorn tops Smiley
