I was completely stuck on my New Beginnings swap quilt until I posted two possible versions.  The general consensus was TREE!  I am so glad I listened to you all.  I think it is a much better quilt with the tree on it.

This little quilt is approximated 18 x 22 inches.  It is made with a variety of quilters cottons including some scraps of a Mary Engelbreit design for Moda.  The tree and binding are a piece of black and some black and white check from my stash.  The tree is raw edge applique with a machine blanket stitch.  There is hand and machine quilting on the front.  The suggestion to quilt in the leaves was inspired and greatly appreciated!

It is now on its way to its new home.  This was a difficult one to put in the mail!

There are some more pictures on my blog.  http://twasbrilligand.blogspot.com/2012/03/new-beginnings-final-edition.html

IT's a very sweet quilt. I like all of the fabrics, especially the binding Smiley.

Too cute! I love the contrast between the white fabric and the dark tree!

waggons - this is just beautiful.  I love the subject matter (TREE!!!) and the quilting is outta this world - I especially like the quilting that carries the different widths of the fabrics in the middle, up to the top and down to the bottom!  Wow - you are a stronger woman than I - I am not sure that I EVER could have put that in the mail.  Well, . . . maybe, but then I'd have to make me one!!  Great job.  This rocks by the way.   Cheesy

Thanks for the kind words.  Given all of the input from meatspace and the internet, I really view this as a collaborative effort.  It was tough to seal the envelope on this one, but it does clear the deck for other projects!

You took suggestions and made it your own!  Love the tree and the leaves quilting!  The punch of black against those bright colors really makes this a special quilt!

Love it!
