I've made 2 of these previously, and worn them totally out. (Very distressing.)

But, in making your own bags, you can always make another one.  Cheesy

This is the pattern envelope:

Here's a pic of one that I'd already worn out.

The primary problem with this pattern is that the lining goes all the way up the handle. That wears out first. (On the one that is just above, the "applique" was starting to come off, too)

But I thought that if I didn't put the lining all the way up the handle, and instead used the outer fabric, then maybe it'd not wear out so quickly.

This shows a small part of the outer fabric going up the handle, but it also shows the Key Leash that I put into it.

Another photo of the "other side" of the purse. You still can't see the outer fabric going up the handle very well, but sort of

And, here's the Zipper Pocket I added.

And here it is, ready to go:

An advantage of having the outer fabric go all the way up the handle is that the bag even FEELS sturdy.

Thanks for the idea, I made a bag and I have the same problems. Maybe doing it that way will help!

P.S. Both your bags are so CUTE!!!

Thanks. It has lasted really well.

Another thing about making your own bags is that you can add the options that you want. Mine are:
1) light coloured interior
2) key leash
3) zippered pocket
4) buttoned closure.

On ready-made bags, they are. all (from the least expensive to the most) black interiored. I don't understand why. You can't find anything in them.
And the key leash is easier to get your keys on, rather than groping around your purse hunting for them.
Zippered pocket for "girly stuff" (feminine hygiene products)
Buttoned closure to easily grab your Cell phone when it rings.

*UPDATE*
This bag has lasted really well!!

Unfortunately, it has started to wear. It used to be, the handle lining would wear out. I fixed by lining it with outer fabric.

The most used area is the button/loop. The lining in th't area is wearing out. Cry Sad-making.

But, now I know more, so I can make 'nother, and mebbe interface in th't area. Then, I'll have an even longer lasting bag (I hope )
