Here's another project that's been on my To-Do list for ages, that I finally got around to making. I bought an ugly wallet, spray painted it , and stenciled on the Tardis with acrylic paint. I just need to seal it with something so it lasts. Any suggestions? (and gotta add the words to the panel on the left, but will do when I've had less coffee) Shocked
I really like how it turned out. Thankyee for looking  Smiley

Not sure what would work to seal it. I might try ModPodge. But amazing job! I love DW and you did the TARDIS justice! Are you planning on painting the inside?  Cheesy

Modge Podge might work.I had completely forgotten about that. (I know, I just committed a huge crafting sin!) I like spray-on sealants, but haven't found one that won't make the paint run, so I may have to go with Modge Podge.

I hadn't planned on painting the inside, since it's got the card holders and a little zip pocket, which is fine, I think. Any painting I would do would end up getting covered, anyway.

I love it! I want it! Grin

I use Krylon clear glaze or just any lacquer for my projects. I use a spray paint can gun on them because it makes it easier to shoot steady and evenly and I just shoot light layers over the course of a day. That way it doesn't run or smudge. Personally, I am not a fan of mod podge because of the streaks it leaves but that might just be me! I did see Walmart has a canned sealant in the brand now too, so that may work! Smiley

Anyway, awesome! I love your wallet!

I would give it a few coats of acrylic sealant or artist's varnish myself.  The more coats the better!

It's really awesome, protect that Whovian goodness!

amazing! i'd go with that krylon outdoor stuff for a sealant. and like SpookyPooky said, just do a bunch of light coats, it'll keep it from running.

liewe_heksie- you're gonna have to use a spray sealant on top to basicly cover up the stickyness. next time make sure you use the matte modge podge, it usually doesnt get sticky like the glossy does, that glossy can be like glue sometimes

Sticky like not dried or just tacky? I've found that if its humid outside then modge podge seems to have a tacky feel even if the modge podge is technically dry. Maybe you can use a different sealer over it?

Mod Podge tips: apply with a foam roller to avoid streaks. It will have a slightly pebbly texture, like an orange skin, but I usually like that on my projects. If it's still tacky when it dries (and yes even the matte can stay tacky if your climate is humid enough) then spray with a few light coats of acrylic sealant.

Very cool! I know a lot of people who love Dr. Who (I think it's pretty cool too, but am still kind of new to it, so don't entirely get all of it's awesomeness yet). So I shared it on my facebook page (hope you don't mind).

Thanks so much for all the advice and great compliments. I decided to go with the Krylon spray and it seemed to do the job. Don't worry, Cloud Walkin Crafts, You'll soon learn all of the awesomeness that is Doctor Who. I am quite obsessed.

I was shocked and a mess when I met Noel Clarke a couple of weeks ago, who just by chance happened to come to my job!!! He lives in London, but was in LA. What a lucky/crazy coincidence!

Yes, use Mod Podge if you want your wallet all sticky when it gets warm out. Then every fuzzy in your bag will attach itself to your wallet. Sorry I don't have an ideal solution, but whenever anyone says "Mod Podge It!" I just have to intervene.

I actually used building plans for a life size Tardis here:http://tardisboard.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=tbg&action=display&thread=1756
I just scaled them to fit the size of my wallet. I figured, why reinvent the wheel, when these were perfectly drawn with the right proportions.

Haha! Your disdain for Mod Podge is palpable, understandable, and hilarious!

I totally didn't Mod Podge it!
