Not sure if this is the best part of the forum to post this in.. I'm usually posting in the sewing and cooking sections, so I apologize if there is a more photo-related area. Smiley

Anyway, I'm a tribal belly dancer who also photographs belly dancers! I have been doing some portraits for some of my friends for promo material and such and they are such lovely ladies, I thought I'd post a couple.

In case anyone is part of the tribal community, I am meeting Rachel Brice soon (!!!) so hopefully I can photograph her some day <3

xo

Such beatiful and evocative photographs!!

Thanks for introducing me to the concept of tribal belly dancing

(can you  believe it's the first time I hear about it?)

Do you also have pictures/videos of your dances?

Loved the richness of it all!

The girl Heather (the sepia photo) made part of her costume and the costume was made by another belly dancer. Thanks Smiley

Thanks very much! And I'm not actually too surprized that you haven't heard of it... 9 times out of 10 people just think I'm talking about the more traditional belly dance. So happy to introduce you to it! Smiley

I've actually been editing some dance footage photographs so I'll try to remember to post a link when it's finished. x

Thanks dear - and yeah, I'm beyond amazed/thrilled that i'm going to meet her. My dance teacher is friends with Rachel so she is flying her over for a few days in June. x

Lovely work, Mantis!  Rachel is as nice as can be.  I've performed three times in shows she's also appeared in.  She's amazing.

Awesome! Smiley I've heard nothing but nice things. Can't wait to take her classes and watch her perform... I've been drilling more often so I'm prepared for her class. x

Beautiful photos - I like the exotic aspect of them. Future pictures could be even more exotic looking and Mata Hari-ish if you're really into doing the setup for it. Very cool!

Thanks! And yes, this was just a head shot shoot at the dancers' request - I would love to do more elaborate shoots with them and other dancers, for sure Smiley x

Beautiful pictures!

I was surprised to check Craftster and see someone I know on the front page. Heather is awesomely sweet and that is a spectacular picture of her. I have never met the other lady but you've captured her wonderfully.
