And making sure you have a good-sized litter box (about 6"x12")

i didnt realize you could train a hedgie to use the litter box... not sure why i never thought of it considering they pick a corner.
i have had a hedgie for about 2 years now. if you take the little guy out to play, having a smaller home should be okay. my little guy likes to dig in the corn cob i have lining his cage and you will need to trim the little claws if you plan on keeping fleece. my biggest concern is the heating lamp and a plexiglass home. my little guy has a regular (not creatve or cool at all) cage and even then he can get hot. i have never had to have a lamp on him as the room temp in the house is fine for him. in fact he has gotten too hot at times and i have had to put a frozen liter bottle of water to cool his area.
they love mealworms
