Took Mel & Tom through the COlumbia Gorge today!  It was soooooo hot!!!!!  We visited Multnomah falls and Vista House. Smiley  If anyone watches Grim, Multnomah falls was in one of the episodes Cheesy  I posted a few pics on Facebook.  It was so pretty!  & a little cooler there than her in Portland!  I think it's the first time I've ever been to either place myself.  Drive by them, but have never stopped.

Here's the link to see the pictures http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.401485649878996.106265.125622654131965&type=3

Fred and George have been doing things close to the house lately due to funds. they are going to help me fill out popcorn envelopes with important dates that boys and parents need to know to sell popcorn. we are also hopefully going to work on their album some this weekend.

the weather has been really crappy here, but hopefully we will get to the beach with Monty before we need to head back to the city.

I have been sick with flu, so been a bit out of action the last week or so, but getting better now, almost there...

Ihaka has been very good at keeping me company and watching movies with me.

This weekend we found a lovely t-shirt to send back to Christina that we think she will love and is very New Zealand though, so that is good.

We are going through a short, but very intense heat wave at the moment. I believe we will have temperatures up to 36C today. Probably not hot for many of you, but for us, poor little Belgians, this is quite extreme. Luckily we have a pool. And, the house is empty again. Our German guests came by (stayed two nights, in our own beds), and because they wanted to visit Mechelen, I had the opportunity to take Esme with me, and snap some pictures.

Oh, btw, I am going crazy though... I bought a brand new camera this week, with the LV swap in the back of my mind. I was tired of walking around with the SLR. It weighs a ton, and it's just not useful if you're going to visit a city, but do some shopping as well. Hence, I bought a Canon Coolpix. Purple, and above all, small!

Ves heill from Seattle!  I convinced Bertrum it would be safe to venture out to Viking Days today!  This is a festival at the Nordic Heritage Museum just a couple blocks away. I come from a long line of Swedish-Americans, and we all can recite where we came from in Sweden and who and when, so it tickles me to live so close to the museum Smiley  Lulu and I have been there often, so I thought it only appropriate the Bertrum visit too!

Here's Bertrum conversing with some Vikings:

He very much liked the little guys, and would encounter more Vikings later on.

He had a great time inspecting the Viking Ship replica:

That's the Nordic Spirit: http://www.myballard.com/2009/08/30/new-nordic-spirit-dedicated-after-inaugural-voyage/

And then - oh dear, what's this?

VIKINGS!!!! Bertrum, where are you? What's happening? BERTRUM!

AAaaaaaaaa! He's been captured by a Viking!

Whew! They made friends and no one was hurt.  Grin Grin Grin

We bought lefsa and waffles and drank beer and cider and we had a lovely day walking around looking at the nordic crafts and such. Fun fun!
