For the past nine days I've been holed up in my parent's house quilting like a mad-woman with one of my best friends. Although we started making quilts together, stuff came up, and I wound up finishing hers. It was lots of fun. I got to try stippling for the first time since I could borrow my mom's darning foot. I also got to try pieced binding for the first time. I think I'm kind of obsessed with it now, the effect is just so cute.
The whole finished quilt:

All we did was add Pellon P44 interfacing to the back of cut-up T-shirts, added cotton borders, pieced the top, and got quilting. The back is a bed sheet that my friend wanted to use. I didn't follow a quilting pattern at all. I just sort of went for it with the darning foot. It was a great upper body work-out I have to say and so much fun. I am thrilled to say that my friend loves how the quilt turned out. Smiley Hope you enjoy the pictures! Comments and critiques are welcome. Smiley

I LOVE it !!!

I especially like the Randomness of the t-shirts, makes it super awesome!  I found myself zooming into the pic to try to see what i recognize.  Makes me want to try my hand at a quilt Wink

Great job Wink!

I really like it!  I am going to make a t-shirt quilt out of my hubby's old tee's one of these days, and this looks like a great way to do it.  I will have to file it away for future reference!

Thanks! I'm glad that you both like it. My friend and I are both really into random and scrappy quilts/crafts so this appealed to us. If either of you make a T-shirt quilt I do highly recommend adding cotton borders. It gives you options when piecing irregular sizes and it rather protects the T-shirt image if you need to make adjustments.

Wow - it came together really well.  I think the cotton binding and all the attention to the quilting really makes it look fancier and more intentionally built than just your run-of-the-mill "what do I do with all these t-shirts" t-shirt quilt.  Nice job!

Thank you! I'm glad you like it. I'm chuckling over here at your syntax of "more intentionally built," because as I helped my friend piece her top we kept joking about how we didn't need no stinkin' pattern and how plans are overrated. When I folded it up to give to her I couldn't help but think "gee, it almost looks like we did all this on purpose."  Cheesy
