New hand dyed yarns! Pic chubby

Here's what I've been dyeing lately. I love it when the house smells of vinegar and wet sheep! These are all fingering weight skeins. The Chrome and Rust, and Professor yarns are self striping for socks, and the Forget Me Not is a gradient skein. I keep imagining it done up as a shawl, with the light purple at the top, all the way down to the dark purple at the bottom.

Very nice! I was just asking my cousin (the spinner/knitter) about spinning yarn this thin.
Is this the amount you'd need for a pair of socks? I want to try two-at-a-time toe up mid-calf socks but don't know how to figure that part of things out.

Please pardon all the questions (I know nothing, lol) but is the nylon content to help the wool be stronger when it's spun so thin?

What I know of it, the nylon helps add strength and stretch.

Lime, you mean to say "Knit or crochet," right?

Hey crafty, no need to apologize!. Nylon is often included in sock yarn because socks have a lot of high friction areas, and the nylon helps keep it from wearing out. People who make socks with yarn that have no nylon will sometimes hold a nylon thread with their yarn and knit it into the toe and heel.
