Embellished Fabric Baskets

Wow, fabric baskets seem to be everywhere these days!  I made these two for the Fabric Basket swap that is just finishing up (one for my partner and one for me!)  She likes linen, and she likes the French General fabric (by Moda), so I ordered an assortment of fat quarters to choose from for the lining.  One of the fabrics had these great bird images that I used for the outside.

Here's an in-progress shot.  The tricky part was to sewing the bird panel and other embellishments to the fabric before constructing the basket--the placement had to be just right.

I love these! The French theme along with your embelsiments are wonderful. Most of all though I love that the words seem to fit the birds actions, very clever. And thank you for posting a link to the tutorial.
