I've been making Easter Peeps.  I hope it isn't taboo to distort the patterns of another crafter to suit my needs.

I fell in love with the felt Easter Peeps bunting designed by Dana Willard (http://www.favecrafts.com/Easter/Bunny-Peeps-Bunting)  but don't really have a use for the bunting.  instead, I went in a differrent direction & put a light stuffing into her peeps pattern to make them a bit stiffer.

Then I carried it a bit beyond when I added a narrow gusset between the 2 layers of felt to make them more dimensional.  I find that these are just right to fill my "candy bowl".   I made the first flat one from a scrap of glittered felt that I had on hand.  It isn't visible in the photo but I love the way it gives a sugar candy look to the peep.    The rest are from plain, ordinary, everyday felt I already had but I'll be making more as soon as I can get to the store to buy more "sugar" felt.

Unlike Dana, I prefer to stitch mine by hand.

I cut 2 strips about 3/4" wide from the narrow edge of a 9x12 rectangle of felt before I cut out the 2 bunny pieces.  I stitched the strips together on one end, matched the seam to the point between his ears &  stitched it half way around, ending at the center bottom.  I then returned to the beginning & stitched the other half from the ear to the bottom & trimmed the 2 strips to the length I needed.  I turned the front seam to the inside & sewed the back to the gusset, leaving an opening to stuff it lightly.

These are so fun! I think a ribbon full (like bunting) would be adorable.
