I liked the idea of opposites and tried to incorporate as many as I could in this project.
I decided to do a reversible snow white/evil queen costume.  Snow white has short puffy sleeves/ queen has long skinny chiffon sleeves (these tuck up inside the puffy sleeve when SW is worn).  SW has dropped waist and is knee length whereas the EQ is high waisted and full length (this is held up with hooks and eyes under SW and helps the skirt puff).   So here is snow white:

I started with 2 separate patterns and tried to sort of meld them so they would fit inside each other

the biggest headache was sewing the invisible zip to 2 dresses and figuring out how to make the collar stand up (my sewing light died early on so I had to gerry rig a desk lamp, lol)

Now for the the back,

and with some cute woodland creatures

Here is the Queen

and her back

and the evil

and check out the cool little potion bottle I found and painted silver and black

Thanks for checking out my entry!

That is amazingly awsome in every way possible. Those would be two amazing dresses even if they didn't attatch into one reversable amazingness.

What a brilliant idea, and brilliant execution - that takes some skill! Both dresses are great, but I like the Evil Queen best, love the long sleeves.

Wow, what a fantastic idea.  Great job with all the tricks you used to make it reversible.

Wow.

This is unbelievable!! They look gorgeous on their own, but the fact that they are reversible is amazing! I love the simplicity of the Snow White dress against the "gothic" beauty of the Evil Queen dress.

Great job!!  Grin

Thank you all, yes I am pleased with how it turned out.  I thought I might wear it next time I go to a fancy dress party, I could turn up as snow white and then after a couple of hours of drinking I'd become the evil queen, lol

That is a great idea.  I think it would confuse a lot of drunk people...

My brain cannot comprehend how you managed to make the waist hights different... takes skills! Both sides are very beautiful

Wow. Both dresses on their own are gorgeous... but I just can't believe you managed to put them together into one dress!!! That is really impressive!

Also, your picture with the "woodland creatures" really cracked me up. Grin Cheesy Thanks for including that!

Thanks, it's basically two separate dresses.  They are sewn together at the neckline and back zipper, plus tacked down along the underarm seam

Thank you, I tried to get a shot of me frolicking with them but I couldn't get my husband to stop laughing and take the photo, lol

Amazing! I'm sitting here trying to figure out where the poofy parts of the white dress went. Both dresses are beautiful, but together, they're mind blowing!

This is so epic I can't even begin to comprehend how you did it!

I've always wondered if a reversible dress (especially one with sleeves) was even possible. Now I know - if one has your epic seamstress skills, then it can be done. Fantastic work! ^_^

This is wonderful. Great creative use of the idea! I agree my fave is the evil queen dress, but both are extremely well executed! Wonderful!  Cheesy

awesome!  I love the way the sleves and skirt of the dress are done.  It's like that add that right amount of volume to the Snow White side.  Well done!
