That's an impressive show of restraint!

It really was! I even put back a ball of yarn (Sugar N' Cream Scrubby), because it was expensive for the amount that was in the ball Wink

But, honestly, if you could see my collection of craft books, you'd understand the necessity for restraint! And, as a reward for my restraint, the guy at the register scanned in both of my coupons, so I got a set of pens at 40% off (because they weren't on sale), and then a special coupon netted me another 40% off a pad of art paper that was already 40% off! I saved so much, I could have gotten 2 balls of the Scrubby yarn! But, again, great restraint was exercised... because I don't need any yarn, either...

See now, individually, I understand all of those words, but they don't quite make sense to me when put together like that...

LOL! My stash does pale in comparison to yours! But 15 small bins, plus a couple of large bins and a closet full of WIPs, coupled with a giant oil bill, means I have to use some up before I can bring in any more. Happy to say I'm working on it, however!

I can understand that.

I'm starting to think that my fiance is my biggest enabler.  I was agonizing over a decision to buy a whole bunch of pom-pom yarn (it was $1 a ball... and I had just figured out some neat ways to use it).  He rationalized the purchase with, "well, I just spent about that much on video games, so it's only fair."

I am now expecting 84 balls pom-pom yarn to arrive soon.

On a completely unrelated note... how does everyone feel about novelty yarns in their motifs? Cheesy

Holy cow! That's a lot of pom-poms...

Have you crocheted with it before? I had some, but it kept unraveling, so I returned it. It's totally cute looking, so I was sad to not be able to use it...

And, I'd rather just have plain old acrylic in my motifs...

ha! It's one of the questions in the sign-up! I personally wouldn't mind a couple made with novelty yarn (or say a motif with a couple rounds of it). Although pompom yarn sounds really cool!

Oh yes! Single crochet with the pompom yarn would make a nice rug. Crocheting with a smooth yarn and carrying the pompom  along is a neat look. What I'm mostly going to do, though, is make a bunch of plain motifs and join them together by slip stitching with the pompom yarn. It looks really cool, I think!

I'd love to see a picture of that! I could be a pom-pom yarn convert!

Here's my proof of concept swatch:

I actually joined the squares first and then went over the join and around the outside after.

Howdy, all!  I like the photo, fantasticmio....I'd been eye-balling my fun fur wondering what it might look like...I think the pom-pom yarn is nice!  I think fun fur and some of those would be more dificult to crochet than knit(for me, it is).

I exercised no restraint while away at the quilting retreat...there was a yarn store just beyond our sewing and dorm rooms, then the quilt store just at the front of the building... and I did buy some lovely yarns.  I've got a sock started on one...=]
