Semi-colon Panties! Using Humor in the Cancer Fighting Arsenol.

A friend of mine is fighting colon cancer and facing all of it with strength, humor and candid honesty.  I shared with her the semi-color underwear I'd made for a guy friend a few years ago and she got a laugh out of them and sent me some new panties to applique for covering her own semi-colon.



I used fusible interfacing on cotton prints from my stash to make the semi-colons, then stitched them to the backside of the panties with a couple of passes on my machine's zigzag setting (shorter and narrower than standard).  On the originals (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=248214.0) I used cotton interlock instead of the woven prints.  I think the prints are cuter and it will be interesting to learn if the hold up the same, etc.

I love these.  I may have to make my hubby a pair of semi-colon boxers.  He had colon resection surgery last fall.  Thankfully the surgery removed all the cancer and he's fine now.  He's the type to joke about his cancer...believing its better to laugh at what fate throws you than to rage or cry.

Thank you.  I made men's briefs a few years ago for a male friend, too.  Also a hit with him.  Semi-colon underpants aren't for everyone, but it seems lots of people who've had some colon removed for cancer or not, appreciate the humor in them.  My bet to you and your husband!
