Raggedy Ann/Andy Help

I want to make a Raggedy Andy doll, but I need to know what the back of his head looks like. It has been many years since I had one, but I seem to remember that the yarn hair was sewn into the seam all around the head, like so:


Is there any hair on the back of the head and if so, what does it look like & how its it attached? If anyone has a doll or a pattern they could look at, it would be much appreciated.

I am going to make the pair of them soon. As far as what Andy's head looks like from the back, keep in mind he is wearing a sailor's cap which doesn't cover much of the head except the very top.  Try this, put one of those typical wool caps that guys wear under their hoodies in the winter on a kids head and take note of how much of the head the cap covers.  To make it easy, I would just cover his whole head in hair and then make the cap and stick it on. In other words, the way you do Ann's hair, do his the same way.

Yes Andy has hair on the back just like Ann does. I've made many of these dolls. The way I do it, it takes a lot of yarn & time & patience. I have a little cardboard about 2''x2'' & have a long piece of yarn & there's marks that should be on the back of the head, the piece it comes with the pattern. When I start you take a stitch leave 2" tail then wrap it around the card then take another but pull it up so it goes tight to the head, then wrap it around the card again & repeat the same stitch on the head, that's so it doesn't get pulled out so easy then every so often pull off the loops on the card & then just start over doing it again. On Andy I cut the loops but on Ann I leave them it makes it look a little curly. Sometimes I do extra rows of hair because I don't like them to look bald. Hope this makes sense!

I just had to go out to the garage and pull out my Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls that I received around 1970. I took photos of Andy, front and back. I hope this helps.
