I knitted an awesome Super Mario blanket that I designed on photoshop for my brother. I started in November 2010 and just finished it today. I probably spent 40 hours of man-work on it.

I'm so excited to share it

Full view:

Close-up of goomba and bricks:

Size comparison to me:

I'm 5'1" and it covers all of me but my head. It's 50 inches wide and 40 inches tall.

Here is the crazy back:

I wish I had that much patience! Is it in a mirror view, or did you intend for all the lettering to read backwards?

Ha, I was hoping no one would notice that it's mirror image! It was a total accident. I was already too far in to go back and fix it!
I think it's still cool, though.

this is epically amazing. like, whoa. hell yea for all your work put into making the pattern for this! i know for a fact that you could market the pattern, hella people would wanna make one!

if you dont want to deal with the curling on the edges, just hand stitch it to a piece of flannel, and knot it down like finishing a quilt. itll also make it so you dont have to weave in all those ends! Grin

omg, you are so awesome.

Wow! This is impressive. I started a scene from Super Mario Brothers 2 in crochet (about 4 years ago Embarrassed) and still haven't finished it, so I know how much work this is. Any suggestions for keeping the yarns from tangling as you go?

Yes, I do have advice Smiley You can buy those yarn spool things (you'd need a million) or you can just DIY it like me. I took cardboard and cut it into H shapes with notches on the ends to secure the yarn. Just wrap your yarn around it and cut it. You may have to replace them along the way, but they're free and totally worth it.
