My first pair of socks... and they're bigger on the inside.

Okay, so maybe they aren't bigger on the inside.  But they are definitely TARDIS socks!  I knit them for my boss because we are Whovian pals.



They are my own pattern.  I started following the classic pattern from Ravelry, but I wound up using different yarn and needles, and I didn't like the top down approach to socks.  So I followed a basic recipe for toe-up socks with short row toe and heel, which was much nicer for me.  I followed the basic idea of the Ravelry pattern for the panels, but instead of using fair isle for the "POLICE BOX" (I was operating on fewer stitches) I just knit a black band and backstitched the words on later.  The windows and sign are duplicate stitch, another first for me.  I'm quite happy with them!

These are awesome! I bought a pair of TARDIS socks online once but they turned out to just be blue socks with some kind of iron-on TARDIS attached weirdly... these ones are gorgeous though.
