2011 Featured Quilting Projects

Here's just a few of the wonderful quilts and quilted projects you guys made last year! How did I choose these? From the "This Rocks!" viewer and also possibly some wonderful ones that may not have been seen as much as I think they should be Cheesy In addition, if a project has been a Featured Project or "Best of 2011" I have left it off of this list so that other awesome projects can get some attention too Smiley

Also I'd like to focus on different sized projects that use quilting techniques, because we all like to make and look at the smaller projects as well as the larger, time consuming ones! Cheesy

Larger/Regular Sized Quilts

Craftster member Marmish made this fabulous, modern looking City Lot Quilt

A traditional star quilt pattern can be transformed when made with beautiful modern fabrics! Quilting Moderator superstitch made this beautiful Oh My Stars! It's a quilt Star Quilt!

Check out all the tiny pieces in this My Favourite Flower-Yellow Quilt by FOC Sansa!

For all the gamers out there, this Tetris + Quilt = Quiltress Quilt is sure to knock your socks off!  Craftster member dellastella said there are 1,482 pieces in it!!? I can't even count that high! Cheesy

Baby Quilts

I adore this Baby Dragon Quilt that danynn made for a friend's baby!

hjcw made this Awesomely Bright Baby's Play Mat

This one is too fun! Applique Treasure Map Play Mat by blue_skiesMN

Wall Hangings, Table Runners, and Mini Quilts

FOC keepitthimble made this adorable Little House on the Prarie Mini Quilt using Foundation Quilting techniques.

How do you change the seasons on a tree? By changing the color of yo-yo leaves! This Seasons Wall Hanging with Yo-Yo's is from FOC funthreads!

The shape of this Spicy Spiral Table Runner by FOC  AlwaysInspired is so fun!

This amazing mini art quilt swap, entitled Around the World was made by FOC erica_tattoos in one of our Mini Art Quilt Swaps.

Mug Rugs

Mug Rug fever caught Craftster by storm last year! Who doesn't love the change to practice quilting skills on a smaller scale and get a tiny piece of art out of it? Smiley

How cute is this Monstrous Mug Rug by FOC suereal? Pretty cute I say!

And MareMare (that's me Smiley ) made this Paper Pieced Panda Mug Rug with some Asian influenced fabrics. Have you tried paper piecing before? It's really fun!

Everyone loves fairy tales! canamharris made this Little Red Riding Hood Mug Rug Too cute!

FOC CraftyMamaBee created this Poodle Mug Rug I love the pieced background with the applique on top!

Thank you everyone for posting your wonderful creations on Craftster and the Quilting Board!

Thank you, Mare Mare for selecting my quilt to be featured!  What an honor!

I'd like to put in a plug for the Modern Quilt Guild, which is growing by leaps and bonds.  I have made so many wonderful friends and been so inspired by their creativity.  You can find a chapter near you at themodernquiltguild.com. There is a new newsletter, and the just announced QuiltCon, next February in Austin, Texas.  I first saw the MQG mentioned here on Craftster and I'm so glad I did.

I agree! I joined the Portland Modern Quilt Guild a couple years ago and have made so many friends and learned so much! Love it! I'm planning on being in Austin next year too!
