So, Inspired by SoreLoser and her brilliant Bulbasaur, ( http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=396342.0) I was inspired to create Pikachu.  My son is a massive Pokemon fan and Pikachu is is favourite so it was the natural choice.

I wasn't quite sure how to work it out, but google images found an 8-bit pikachu so a few tweaks, and much counting and colouring in graph paper later I managed to create this little lovely!

He is quite a big fella.  Too big to lay out in my little house, so he was photographed on the floor of a local cafe.  He can just about fit on a double bed, as you can see on this not quite so good photo.

Altogether he's taken about 6 weeks and 927 little squares created from 14 balls of yarn (although I do have rather a lot of white left over).

The square breakdown is:
556 Yellow
257 Black
75   Peach
24   Red
13   Brown
2     White  squares.

And close up:

My son loves it, and so do I!

This is really awesome! What color yarn did you use to sew everything together? I know with two yellow blocks together, for example, you'd use yellow, but what about when you have two colors, like black and yellow, together?

I had a "rule" for sewing up.  Obviously the predominant colour was yellow, so if it touched a yellow square, then yellow.  Otherwise I used the palest of the 2 colours I was sewing.  If you look at the stitching close up the paler shade is less noticeable (for example if a peach and black were together I'd use peach), than if you used the darker one.
