Well, I wrote the pattern for him as went so that I could remake it if need be, or many put the pattern on Etsy. In the pattern doc I named him Terence, so that's what he's been around here. Smiley

I'm glad he was a hit. My husband was pouting that I was sending him away, but I think he'll get more love and attention at your house. And I had to make a second set of the rock hotpads for my mom! Cheers!

Looking for a vintage magazine (1974 - 1978) that has a fabric nativity set w/ people and animals. An example: http://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=440861&ppuser=143144.

Terence is cute. Wish I could write patterns, but that's what other people are for, eh?

So by popular demand here is JoAnna Eve, in her dragon tail provided by Quilted in last month's swap so it's still "on topic":

Born 9lb 2oz, 21" long. Not bad for a 5'4" girl, eh?

JoAnna the dragon is precious! Congratulations again!

I love the look of those pot holders! Saintcady - did you use a tutorial to make those that you could share?

I really liked how they came out too. I couldn't find a tutorial. The pin that she (and I) have only leads to a picture and an unrelated article. It was actually about tea or something and the hotpads aren't even mentioned. But it's such a cool look and I figured I could work something out. I actually ended up doing 2 sets in 2 different ways, each of which has it's ups and downs. For both I used wool blend felt, rocks, and Gorilla Glue.

For the first set, I cut circles of felt. Then I dampened the felt with a sponge (because Gorilla Glue requires one damp surface for a good bond). Then I picked one rock at a time, applied Gorilla Glue to the back using a q-tip, and placed on the felt. I went with Gorilla Glue because it's heat resistant and sets up very firm. This resulted in hotpads that are still rather delicate, since there's not much glue on each rock. They bend and I have to pick them up carefully (or at least it feels like I do). But they do have nice soft felt backs. These are the ones I ended up keeping for my mom.

For the second set, I still started with circles of felt. Then I spread a dollop of Gorilla Glue on the felt with a q-tip. Then I would pick a rock, dab it on a wet sponge, and place it on the glue. This resulted in a much firmer and sturdier hotpad, which I liked, but the back does have some glue residue that leaked through, which is kind of a bummer. I thought those would ship better, so they're the ones that went to ehinders.

In either case, the time consuming part was placing the rocks so that they look random but fit as close together as possible.

She is beyond cute!  I think she is by far the best crafted thing on the board! Congratulations on your newest addition.  I might have to throw something in the box for her too.  I wouldn't want her to feel left out =)

Funny, I don't remember being absentminded...

I need a skein (two would be great) of Knit Picks Gloss Bare sock weight to finish a shawl.
