I just wanted to share my first ever purse.  I've made basic envelope style clutches in the past, but this was my first ever involved purse like this.  I used Spoonflower to print a fabric I designed on a cotton/canvas (which I still backed in heavy weight fusible interfacing).  I drafted the pattern from scratch by looking online at a purse I liked and tweaked it to suit my wants.  I used a faux leather piping and used coordinating pleather trims on the body and to make the handles from.  I have D-Rings on the sides that a removable cross-body strap goes on.  The inside is lined in a very pretty wavy patterned satin and I have a cell phone pocket, 3 CC slots, and on the opposite side - a large inset pocket for my keys and gum collection.  I made the straps from welting cord and wide pleather trim.  I made them long enough to sit comfortably on my shoulder and not be too tight (a common problem I have with store bought purses).  The bag is about 12" wide x 9" high x 5" deep at the bottom.  I've never made a purse before, I've done PLENTY of costume and clothing work, and I figured it couldn't be that much harder.

The symbols on the purse mimic the LV style layout, they are the Rebel Bird (think Princess Leia and her Rebel friends), the Imperial Cog (for Darth Vader and the Empire), the Naboo Royal Crest (for Queen Amidala), and an "SW" in classic Star Wars font.

EDIT 03/10: I just made a wallet to go with it using the tutorial http://www.noodle-head.com/2010/04/gathered-clutch-tutorial.html and omitting the inside pockets (for time's sake).  I made one for my friend as a thank you gift (she took care of our cat at her clinic) but her looks more like the tutorial one and not like mine.  I made mine to coordinate with the purse by adding the piping and changing the direction of the gathers, I also added the strap.  The lining is the same that I used in the purse too.

Thanks everyone!  I've taken it to work (where everyone else is a geek too) and it was well received.  I've already got requests from friends to see if I can make more lol
