It's so lovely! The piping is great (and something I wish I knew how to do Smiley). Don't you have a gothic room, scarlet_nights? That's going to look perfect there!!

My partner was the very talented PerfectlyBohemian. She made me this GORGEOUS squid pillow. The technique was I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) needle felting with wool. Squid are my favorite animals.
Thank you, PerfectlyBohemain, you were a wonderful partner, and this is a beautiful pillow!  Grin

Holy wow, that squid pillow is amazing! It does look like it was painted in the picture, everything is so precise and clear and, well, amazing.

I am really liking that pillow. I like the lace and the "cuddliness" of the satin is it?.... And the closure on the back is just wonderful! I think it was a wonderful start to the gallery and can't wait to start seeeing more!
Yep, it's satin. And since I spent about twenty minutes trying to take decent pictures of it in my cave-like house without the flash going crazy on the shininess, here's another couple Smiley

I'm glad you like it, s_n!

I used to be terrified of piping but it's really not that hard and is so much easier to go around corners with than braid. And I learned that frog closures aren't scary either! It was a very productive pillow Smiley

peaches, you are right -- the technique is needle felting. I used three upcycled wool sweaters that I machine washed to shrink and felt to make the base of the pillow, then I needle felted the design in wool roving. I'm so glad you like it! It was a very successful experiment for me.

LimeRiot, it really did have a bit of dimension in person, but it was really hard to take pictures to show the texture... I tried with my SLR in sunlight, inside, and with and without a flash, but the fibers were being tricky and I gave up... luckily the dyeing in the wool was uneven, too, so it looks shaded around where the tentacles overlap Cheesy

Yes my bedroom and living room are in a gothic/midevil theme. Its kind of odd in the living room since its open into the kitchen and the kitchen is 50's/I Love Lucy but its my house and I can do what I want lol

Great technique on the squid pillow.

I can't believe I forgot to sign up for this swap!!!  I could kick myself!

Oh well, I'll just drool...love the red, lacy pillow and the closure is my favorite part!

The materials used in the squid pillow are unique!!  The back is also wonderful!

Keep those cushions coming!
