I have been a fan of the TV show Firefly since it came out.  I was very sad when it was cancelled and thrilled when I heard a movie was in the works.  Last month, I was lucky enough to get tickets to one of the Special Advance Previews.  When I went to it, I wore a Kaylee costume that I had made.  I hope to get pictures of it to post here later.

I'm even luckier to have tickets for tomorrow night's showing as well.  I love my Kaylee costume, but to celebrate this occasion, I wanted to make myself something new.  I've been reading here on craftster about stenciling, and the first thing that came to mind was a Blue Sun t-shirt.  This is the result!

As my digital cam is very very crappy, the colors are pretty bad as well.  The shirt is actually a sort of medium blue with dark navy ringer.  The stencil is done in "navy blue" Tulip paint.  This was my first stencil, and I am pretty pleased with how it came out.  I would do a couple of things differently if I were to make another one, especially concerning how I did the bridges.  But I like it!

Here is a better picture of the shirt. This is of me wearing it while waiting in line at the movie theater.

Thanks guys!

The stencil I used is pretty simple. I think that I got the image from google and then just resized it. I noticed that there were at least two different versions of the Blue Sun image (they had different characters under the English words), but this is the one I used.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting the stencil.  I think I will just have to place an order of tees just so I can make that shirt.

I did the stencil by printing out two identical images on freezer paper. This way there were no islands. First, I did the main part of the stencil basically by cutting out everything that's blue in this image:

Then I used my second print-out to just cut out the bridges left over from the first stencil. Like in this image:

It was really easy to line up the second one. After it was finished, I couldn't even tell the difference from the first and second step.
