Here's a custom order I did for one of my friends that I wanted to show you guys.  She loves everything Egyptian, and she had this silk scarf that she wanted me to use for a dress.  It also has the zodiac signs on it, which kills two awesome birds with one stone.  Anyways, I made a sweetheart top, velvet ribbon straps, and added a band of egyptian hieroglyphic fabric at the bottom.  There's a good tip - making skirts two-tone by adding a band of fabric at the bottom and giving it extra length.  The bodice is based off an 80's prom pattern, sans boning.  If you guys have any other questions, comments, criticism, words of wisdom, etc. etc. let me know!

Freaking gorgeous! A complete lust-worthy garment. I love that the neckline is sweet and sassy without being too sexy low, know what I mean? It's super flattering without revealing everything. And the skirt, the fabric pairing is wonderful. What a great way to use a favourite scarf. Those things just hang around in the closet doing nothing when they should get shown off, now I know what to do with them!

When I was younger, I was OBSESSED with ancient Egyptian history (still am).
I actually have some fabric similar to that and I could not figure out what to make...you've gave me inspiration.
Anyway, it's awesome!

Alright so I think this dress is really cute, but the story I NEED to share with you is about the title of your posts.

"Cleopatra / Comin' at ya"

I named my dog Cleopatra. She likes to run around like crazy, and because of our wood and laminate flooring she would slide out of control. Well i used to sing a song about her "Cleopatra, comin atcha, Cleopatra in full speed." So yea.

But I really DO think the dress is fantastic! I also love Ancient Egyptian culture. Love the extra band of fabric on the bottom!

That's so funny.  I got the title from this superrr 90's r&b pop song by a band called cleopatra, and that was their theme song or something.  just a childhood memory, ha.

And thanks everyone else for the compliments.  I seriously did NOT want to give her the dress, haha.

I love. It looks very nice on you too. Or whoever the model is. Is your cleopatra title referencing that one hit wonder from that trio or teenage black girls? They were on the disney channel and the only lyrics in the whole song was cleopatra comin at ya. Their band name was cleopatra and the whole music video was them jumping on their beds and flipping their braids around. Ohhh how I begged my mom to let me get braids like that when I saw that video.
