My 9 year olds school have to make a Victorian style house.

Any ideas on materials we could use or how to start?

Wow, they sure expect a lot from kids these days LOL. I remember making dioramas when i was 9, but never a period piece.
let me guess she will be doing this in 1/12 scale, or 1 inch equals 1 foot?
first off, don't panic. be prepared to hoard a bunch of little doodads and bits.
save beads, they can become vanity perfume bottles http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/miniature-dollhouse-vanity-tray-with-bottles-and-bell
this site has lots of freebies to print up http://www.printmini.com/
i don't know much about the Victorian Era except they seemed to use rich fabrics and darkish colors. sorry i can't help more.
