I would really love to be able to make a skirt like this

I'm not sure what shape I would cut the fabric and how to pin/sew it. All help appreciated Smiley

That's a type of tulip skirt. There's currently a Burda, a McCall's, and a Vogue for similar skirts.

If you'd rather draft your own, having a skirt pattern that already fits you will be helpful. Then you just need to extend and round off the each half of the front and use this tutorial for adding fullness over the hips. If you'd rather make it a one-piece-pattern then you'll find this posting to be helpful.
